  • MacOS 11 (Big Sur) Now Supported

Cambium Assessment has completed the review of macOS 11 and determined a new secure browser is required to support this new operating system as well as any device featuring the new Apple silicon processors.

    Secure Browser

To allow support of macOS 11, Mac Secure Browser 12.6 is now available. To access secure testing sites, Mac Secure Browser 12.6 must be installed on devices running macOS 11. Devices running macOS 10.11 to 10.15 will continue to use the current Mac Secure Browser 12.5.

    Secure Profile

Mac devices running Secure Browser 12.6 on macOS 11 require the Secure Profile to be installed. An updated version of the Secure Profile compatible with all supported versions of OS X/macOS is now available. In addition to the Secure Profile, macOS 11 users will need to disable third-party app updates, fast user switching, and sleep mode.

    Apple Silicon Devices

Starting with certain models introduced in late 2020, Apple began the transition from Intel processors to Apple silicon in Mac computers. When running Mac Secure Browser 12.6 on Apple silicon devices, Rosetta 2 must be installed. For more information about Rosetta 2, see https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT211861.

    • Rosetta 2 may already be installed on Apple silicon devices if other Intel-based apps on the device require it.
    • If Rosetta 2 has not already been installed, the Secure Browser will prompt the user to install Rosetta 2 the first time they launch the Secure Browser. Rosetta 2 can be installed on multiple devices at once through scripting or mobile device management (MDM).

Please visit the Secure Browsers page for the new secure browser and secure profile. Please visit the Technology Coordinator page for updated documentation.
